  • Why Don’t YOU Work for Free?
A few weeks ago, I came across a picture of a letter sent to a newspaper in response to an article they had run some point earlier. I didn’t track down the article it references but I did find that the author of this letter. Pretty interesting that she (andrea vicari) is from Miami but […]

Last week, the CHB had the honor of playing at a great venue in downtown Dothan named The Grand. It’s a really old building that has been tastefully reinvented into a venue for weddings and events. This event was the closing session to a marriage conference held by Wiregrass Church. After Friday night and Saturday morning/afternoon sessions, the event moved out of the church’s facility and into The Grand.

A lot of the people at the conference see me on stage during the worship sets a couple times a month so I really didn’t expect them to embrace the CHB with so much enthusiasm. People I know and people I don’t were dancing and clapping and having a great time. This gave the band an energy we aren’t used to having at a private function.
My trombonist, Martin Sager wrote a quick blog about it on his site.

A few years ago, I got a call for a last minute gig in downtown Dothan. It was a charity auction for the local chapter of the American Red Cross. For one, the event planner is an awesome person who I love to work with and, two, It’s a great organization. So, I jumped on it. That time, I took The Living Jazz Duo but for the last two funraisers, I used the Chris Hodges Trio.

These events are a lot of fun. There is a silent auction then an English auction. All the food and auction items are donated and they generally make a pretty decent amount.

This is such a great event to be a part of filled with wonderful people. We look forward to next year already!

The CH3 had the honor of playing at the wedding reception of Ben Werner and Jordan Platt on September 28th at the Dothan Country Club. Ben and Jordan are two of the nicest cats I have ever dealt with and, I must say, it was great to be a part of their special event.

The photographer (Andi Fleming Photography & Design) was awesome, too. And, she was kind enough to send me some shots she took of the band. If you like her work, you can email her and let her know…then hire her!  :)
